10-Year-Old Calls 911 After Spotting Out Of Control Blaze In Pottstown

POTTSTOWN, Pa. (CBS) – A quick-thinking 10-year-old is being credited with alerting officials to an out of control fire burning inside a vacant building in Montgomery County on Sunday.

The fire at Walnut and North York Streets was burning for at least 30 minutes when the child used a cell phone and called 911 for help.

"I saw smoke, and then I called 911," says the child, Antonio Gallardo.

"It was bad," recalls witness Wendy Sell. "It was coming out of the roof at first, and then the firemen were breaking the windows, and then you were seeing flames and everything."

The fire was placed under control around 1:30 a.m. after reaching three alarms.

No one was injured.
