Power Restored To Hundreds In Long Beach After Outage

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Power was gradually restored power to hundreds of customers in four Long Beach communities over several hours, Southern California Edison officials said Monday.

The outage was reported at 7:46 p.m. Sunday in the Bixby Knolls, Los Cerritos Park, Virginia Country Club and California Heights communities, SCE tweeted. It may have affected hundreds of customers.

By 10:30 p.m. Sunday, 93 customers were affected, the cause was deemed to be extreme heat damaging underground service and most of the power was expected to be restored by 3:30 a.m., according to Edison's website.

Power was restored to all but 27 customers by 2:30 a.m. and Edison expected to have power restored to almost everyone else by 6 a.m.

This was the fourth power outage in Long Beach in two months. Two July outages caused by explosions in underground vaults left thousands of customers without power for days.
