Planned Outage Amid Upcoming Heat Wave Has Some In Yorba Linda Thinking Ahead
YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — Temperatures were expected to skyrocket this weekend and possibly even break records but some in Yorba Linda won't be able to use their air conditioners.
Some residents Friday experienced a planned outage and another one was planned Monday to allow Southern California Edison to perform maintenance.
While rescheduling does occur in some cases depending on the weather, SCE says the work being done and the outages are needed to help prevent emergency outages from occurring.
The work Monday is expected to be performed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., prompting some to plan ahead.
"I'm gonna go to the beach with the kids," said John Messina. "That's my plan."
When the power goes out on a hot day, residents are advised to close their windows, curtains, and blinds, and avoid opening the refrigerator or freezer.
Also, those in multi-level structures should spend time downstairs as heat rises.
