More Outages In Long Beach As SoCal Edison Crews Make Emergency Repairs

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Two apartment buildings in downtown Long Beach are without power tonight, as SoCal Edison crews do emergency repairs to an underground vault.

SoCal Edison said the outages, which began shortly after 9 p.m., will last between four and six hours. A couple hundred customers will be affected.

The repairs come after two recent widespread power outages in Long Beach due to faulty vaults in just two weeks.

The power company has since investigated its Long Beach infrastructure and found the vault under repair Thursday night, at the corner of Magnolia Avenue and Third Street, was in dire need of work.

Local residents are hoping tonight's temporary outage will be the last time they're without power for some time.
