3 Fires Break Out Early In San Fernando Valley
SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) — At least three fires broke out early Thursday in the San Fernando Valley area.
Shortly before 6 a.m., a fire was reported at a two-story apartment building at 8414 Langdon Avenue in North Hills. A 56-year-old man was inside of the apartment at the time, but he escaped without injury, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott.
The fire was knocked down in 32 minutes, and the cause of the fire was determined to be a floor heater, Scott said.
A small grass fire broke out near the truck transition road from the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway to the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Sylmar at about 6 a.m. The fire prompted the closure of one lane of the transition road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fire was knocked down by 6:15 a.m.
In Valley Glen, firefighters were called out to a mini mall at 6015 Woodman Avenue at about 6 a.m. and knocked down the fire within 20 minutes. Flames were reported in one unit, and no injuries were reported.
