Vehicle Crashes Into IDOT Truck On Stevenson Expressway

CHICAGO (CBS) – One person is recovering after colliding with the back of an Illinois Department of Transportation emergency traffic patrol unit Saturday morning.
It happened just before 4 a.m. on the outbound Stevenson near Harlem, police said. Police said the IDOT truck was providing traffic control in the right lane of I-55 southbound when another vehicle struck it from behind.
Firefighters had to free two people trapped in a sedan. One was hospitalized, but the extent of the victim's injuries was not clear.
The IDOT worker was not hurt.
