Police Seek Suspects In Hammond Robbery

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Authorities are asking the public to help identify suspects in the armed robbery of a northwest Indiana tobacco shop two months ago.

The robbery occurred about 11 a.m. July 16 at the Tobacco Superstore, 7509 Calumet Ave. in Hammond, Ind., according to a statement from Hammond police.

Three suspects entered the store, held the clerk at gunpoint and stole Marlboro and Newport cigarettes as well as a DVR system, a television monitor, cash, debit cards and cell phones, police said.

Police have released surveillance images of two of the three suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. James Lietz of the Hammond Police Department at (219) 852-2983.
