Police Release Surveillance Images Of Convenience Store Shooting

HAMMOND, Ind (CBS) -- Authorities on Friday released video of a deadly shooting of a convenience store clerk in Hammond.

Police hope its release helps find the murder suspect, who is seen demanding the clerk, Roger Unton, open the cash register before firing at least two fatal shots.

The assailant left behind a wig near the scene of the crime, which occurred on Wednesday morning at a 7-11, 6031 Hohman Avenue.

CBS 2 is not showing the full video, only a screen grab that shows what the suspect was wearing.

The victim was shot fatally after the offender became angry because a panic alarm button was pushed, Hammond Police said in a release.

"Roger Unton was executed by an animalistic predator who clearly has no value for human life," Hammond Police Chief John Doughty said in a statement.

7-11 is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the offender. Anyone who can assist with identifying this suspect is asked to call Hammond Police.
