Mom To Send Daughter To Dream School After Winning Lottery

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A west suburban mom recently won $200,000 playing the lottery and now she says she's going to use a portion of that money to send her daughter to her dream high school.

Kim Mallett purchased a Lucky Day Lotto ticket on Jan. 10 at Bellwood Food & Liquors, 5001 St. Charles Road, and matched all five numbers: 1, 10, 21, 27 and 37, according to a statement from the Illinois Lottery.

The same day of the drawing, Mallett dropped her daughter off to taken an entrance exam for a private high school. When she checked her ticket later that day, she realized she won.

The 51-year-old single mom works in the banking industry and also plans spend a portion of her winnings on new car.

"Financially, things have been tough, but I knew in my heart that somehow I would find a way to pay for my daughter's education," Mallett said.
