Man Robs Bank In Austin

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man robbed a Chase Bank branch Friday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The man walked into the branch at 6612 W. North Ave. at 1:36 p.m. and handed the teller a note announcing a robbery, according to the FBI and Chicago Police.

He implied he had a weapon, but didn't show one, and then ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as 50-to-60-year-old black man, standing between 5-foot-6 and 6 feet, with a medium build, the FBI said. He was wearing a gray logo sweatshirt, a white hat, a black backpack and carrying a metal cane.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
