Indiana Man Gets 37 Years For Taking Girl Across State Lines To Molest Her

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 30-year-old Indiana man has been sentenced to more than 37 years in prison for taking an 11-year-old girl to south suburban Lansing to sexually abuse her three years ago.

Edwin Tollinchi-Rodriguez, of East Chicago, Ind., pleaded guilty to transporting a minor across state lines with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana. He was sentenced in federal court Tuesday to 37.5 years in prison and 20 years of supervised release.

Tollinchi-Rodriguez admitted to taking the girl from East Chicago to Lansing on November 3, 2012, intending to sexually assault her, the U.S. attorney's office said.

The girl testified in an Oct. 29 hearing that Tollinchi-Rodriguez had been sexually abusing her since she was 8 years old, threatening to kill her, her family and himself if she told anyone, the statement said. She also said he had been violent with her, her mother and her brother before.
