Firefighters battle early-morning fire in East Chicago, Indiana

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (CBS) -- Flames engulfed a house in East Chicago, Indiana early Sunday as firefighters tried to contain it.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. in the frame house at 506 W. 144th St., near Railroad Avenue, officials said.

Flames were seen shooting from the roof of the house. Firefighters had multiple lines in their efforts to put out the fire.

One of the fire trucks had its ladder fully extended as it dumped buckets of water on the flames.

Details were not available Sunday night on how the fire started or if anyone was hurt.
