In an exclusive interview with the head of the Office of Refugee Resettlement, CBS News learned thousands of unaccompanied migrant children are at risk of spending the rest of their childhoods in federal custody. His Obama administration predecessor, Bob Carey, said the current rhetoric is making migrant families "fearful." He said if no one comes forward to claim unaccompanied children because they fear the government, those kids will be detained longer.
