Trump defends experience of his pick to be director of national intelligence
President Trump is backing Rep. John Ratcliffe of Texas to replace Dan Coats as director of national intelligence. The director of national intelligence requires extensive "national security expertise," but colleagues of both parties say Ratcliffe has shown less zeal for the day-to-day work of intelligence oversight, according to public records, committee members and other officials familiar with his work.
