Ship sets record for earliest Northwest Passage transit

The Finnish icebreaker MSV Nordica has set a new record for the earliest transit of the fabled Northwest Passage. The ship made the 6,214-mile voyage in 24 days. The once-forbidding route has been opening up earlier and earlier as Arctic ice recedes due to climate change.
