Gun purchases have skyrocketed since the beginning of 2020 due to fear over the pandemic, civil unrest and election uncertainty. However, not everyone who bought a gun should have been allowed to under the law. Thousands of purchases that should have been prohibited slipped through what's called the "Charleston loophole."
