PHIL KEOGHAN:

That's incredible.

JULIE CHEN MOONVES:
00:00:54

That's when I thought, they might like us.

PHIL KEOGHAN:
00:00:57

Yes. They really, really like us. Maybe they like you.

JULIE CHEN MOONVES:
00:01:00

And maybe. I mean, who knows? I never count on. I just play for today, you know?

PHIL KEOGHAN:
00:01:08

I love live TV. It's just so much fun. But Amazing Raceis not live. It's not live, but it is. We have live elements to it. It's as live because you can't be like-- And we can't redo things. Go! Do some reality shows fudge things? And yes, there are some shows that do that, but-- But Amazing Raceand Big Brotherare not-- No. --that way. We have, I think, prided ourselves in making sure that we keep it legit and keep it real. And because it is a competition, you can't just go changing the rules mid-show.

JULIE CHEN MOONVES:
00:01:46

No, you can't say like, Phil and Julie, you're in seventh place, and they'll be like, oh, we didn't get that, and then say it again. You want the real reaction. You have to get it. Today, it's where 13 Amazing Raceteams will leap from the rafters almost 300 feet above the ground, when they try to catch a salmon with bare claws.

JULIE CHEN MOONVES:
00:02:09

Has 39 seasons of Amazing Race changed you as a person? Oh, yeah. I mean, gosh, I mean, I was in my early 30s. It's 25 years later. Do the math. I mean, it's like-- but absolutely, just my perspective on the world. Which country has been the most welcoming to production for Amazing Race? Like, my favorite place to go outside of New Zealand, because I get to see my family, is Italy.

JULIE CHEN MOONVES:
00:02:41

Why?

PHIL KEOGHAN:
00:02:42

Just the food, the culture. Like, you're literally walking through a museum. Like, the whole country is a museum. But I remember once, we were working with the crew, and we're at the pit stop, and the Italian crew turned up, and they were all so relaxed. They're having espressos and everything. And I was explaining to them when the teams come in, it's going to happen very quickly, and we have one shot, and that's it. And they're like, yeah, don't worry, don't worry. And, you want the espresso? So sure enough, they did not finish building the crane. All the teams ran in within 10 minutes, and they were done. And then the guy goes, OK, we are ready now. And I said, well, I'm really sorry to say, but you know what I was saying about the teams? I mean, we're done. He goes, what do you want me to do? I said, well, let's pack it up, and let's see if we can get it on time tomorrow. And he goes, OK. And then the next day, they were on time. That sounds very stressful. It is stressful.
