"I am able to use my degree as leverage when applying for positions that require a bachelor's degree with certain years of experience. Often, I can substitute education for work experience."
Heading back to school might not just be for kids. A career in education can offer the flexibility and growth that many people are seeking in a job.
"Many people believe that pursuing advanced degrees will help them discover their passions and interests. But I believe that it should be the other way around - you should pursue a master's degree if you want to fine-tune your experience in the field of study you're in."

"Obtaining my master's degree will open many career-driven doors for me. I realize that without the master's degree I may not have those opportunities," says Melinda Jones.
Chad Lawrence started off in sales but didn't care for it. He wanted to transition into human resources and decided to earn a master's degree from the University of Phoenix.
"The rewards have been the quiet steady – doors opening. It is the ability to have the skills and the capability to lead people that make a difference in the lives of DISD students every single day," says Tara Brown.
