A public event to honor the officers will take place Monday at 10 a.m. at Dallas College El Centro Campus.
For the families of those officers, these seven years have been a time of excruciating pain and small steps toward healing.
Seven years ago, then Dallas police officer and department spokesperson Monica Cordova, was one of the officers tasked with relaying real time information about the deadly ambush.
Based on law enforcement sources and eyewitness accounts from that evening, here's a timeline of what took place in downtown Dallas the night of July 7, 2016.
