Wrong Way Driver's Alcohol Level 3x Legal Limit

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The driver involved in a deadly wrong way crash this summer had a blood alcohol level nearly four times the legal limit. An autopsy report shows John Layton's blood alcohol limit was .314 as he drove the wrong way on Highway 287 in Grand Prairie on June 20. The legal limit for drivers in Texas is .08.

Both Layton, and the driver he hit, 20 year-old Alex Ford, died in the crash.

It happened at about 1:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 287, in a very dark part of the highway.
