ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Just last week, before the Ohio State Buckeyes toppled the Oregon Ducks and won the first-ever College Football Playoff national championship at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, there was a promise from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
He vowed to continue to bring even more big events to North Texas.
Those were big words, considering that the stadium has already hosted the Super Bowl, the NBA All-Star Game, NCAA Final Four basketball, and some of the biggest names in music -- including George Strait and Taylor Swift. Oh, and it is also the home field for America's Team, of course.
The Academy of Country Music Awards will also be held at AT&T Stadium in April.
But it was announced early Tuesday morning that WrestleMania will be coming to AT&T Stadium on April 3, 2016. The WWE confirmed the news online ahead of a media event at the stadium.

Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck, Cowboys executive vice president Charlotte Jones Anderson and former Cowboys star Ed "Too Tall" Jones joined WWE CEO Vince McMahon, chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon, Hulk Hogan and a list of and other WWE superstars at AT&T Stadium on Tuesday for the celebration.
"On behalf of the City of Arlington, we thank WWE for choosing AT&T Stadium to host their biggest event of 2016," the mayor said. "We look forward to fans from around the world converging on our beautiful city for WrestleMania week."
The event is set to include an interactive fan festival at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, a WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the American Airlines Center, and several other fan and community outings.
"The week-long series of events will provide an economic boost to our region," added Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings.
Last year's event was held in New Orleans. WrestleMania has been to Houston twice, but this will be the first time that the WWE is bringing their premier event to North Texas. Fans come from all around the world to be a part of these big nights in wrestling entertainment.
"We look forward to making history at WrestleMania, while adding AT&T Stadium to the list of iconic venues that have hosted our annual pop culture extravaganza," Vince McMahon said.
