Woodson Talks About Cowboys Induction

By Mike Fisher | @fishsports

OXNARD (105.3 THE FAN) -- Moments after former safety Darren Woodson was announced as the next inductee in the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor, I asked him what he will do immediately to celebrate.

"I've just got to make sure not to do anything to screw it up," Woody told me jokingly.

That's highly unlikely, of course. Woodson is not only among the most decorated Cowboys of his era -- he played for Dallas from 1992-2003, was a four-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl pick, played on six division championship teams and won three Super Bowls -- but has also always conducted himself in admirable fashion.

"I've always dreamed of this," Woodson said Tuesday from the team's training camp in Oxnard. "It's been 21 years, but it's here. ... I love this organization and have always loved this organization."

Woodson, who will be inducted at halftime of the Nov. 1 game against Seattle at AT&T Stadium, said, "When you win a championship, you're forever intertwined forever with your teammates. Same with the Jones family. We're a fraternity."

An invitation to have his name listed as an all-time great Cowboy and as a Hall-of-Fame inductee? It's an even more exclusive fraternity and the finest honor a Cowboy can receive.

"I wanted my kids to see me in Cowboys Ring of Honor," Woodson said. "It's the culmination of the ups & downs of my life."
