Woods, Spieth Honored In PGA Player Voting
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL (CBSDFW.COM/AP) -- Jordan Spieth is no Tiger Woods, but the rookie is following the same path that Woods blazed more than 15 years ago.
The Dallas-native was voted rookie of the year on Friday on a day that Tiger Woods was voted PGA Tour player of the year for the 11th time.
The Tour announced the results of player voting Friday morning. It doesn't release the percentage of votes or who finished second.
Spieth, 20, finished the season 10th on the PGA Tour money list and seventh in the FedEx standings after starting the season with no tour status.
The former University of Texas golfer became the youngest winner on the PGA Tour since 1931 when he won the John Deere Classic in July. He was also selected as a captain's pick for the 2013 President's Cup, which begins next week.
Woods won five times this year _ no one else won more than twice. It's the third time he has won the award without having won a major. Since the award began in 1990, no one else has won it more than twice.
Woods also won the rookie of the year award in 1996.
