UTA Student Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Arlington

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman crossing the street was struck and killed in Arlington Wednesday around 5:00 p.m. by a vehicle turning southbound onto North Cooper Street from Abram Street according to Arlington Police.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Eneyda Sorto, 27, of Irving.
She was a senior majoring in social work at UT Arlington.
Investigators believe Sorto was attempting to cross Cooper Street when she was struck.
She was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing but police said no charges are expected against the driver of the vehicle at this time.
Scott D. Ryan, the Dean of the School of Social Work said in a statement to students, faculty and staff:
With deepest regrets, I must inform you of the loss of one of our own.
On November 16, a student from our school, Eneyda Lisette Sorto (who went by her middle name), died tragically after being hit by a car while crossing the street.
We are all saddened by this loss and we send our condolences to her family and friends.
