Woman Set On Fire Fights For Her Life
DALLAS (CBS 11) - A woman who was set on fire inside a Fort Worth convenience store is fighting for her life at Parkland Hospital while the suspect remains at large.
Bianca Sanchez, 19, was one of two victims who were inside the Buy and Save gas station and store on the 2700 block of Azle Ave. in North Fort Worth, when a female suspect came in, doused the women with a flammable liquid and set the two on fire.
One of the victims, Mercedes Bozquez, 41, was burned mostly on her back and is out of the hospital.
Sanchez, however, suffered burns from head to toe, according to her father, Antonio Sanchez.
"She's burned about 75 percent of her body and she still in that critical condition that she could turn anytime," Sanchez said.
Doctors told Sanchez his daughter will remain in the Intensive Care Unit for at least 2 1/2 months and then will have endure an even longer recovery.
In the five days Bianca Sanchez has been in the hospital, she had endured three surgeries. She had received skin grafts from her own body and from donors.
Antonio Sanchez says his daughter communicates with him through nodding and can open her eyes but cannot talk.
"I mean you can just see the pain in her eyes," he said. "She nods. she can't talk because she's got a tube in her mouth but the first day I asked her if she knew who had done this to her and she said yes."
Fort Worth Police know who did it too, but the suspect, whose name has been released, has been on the run and has not yet been arrested.
"The only thing I can say to her is turn yourself in," Antonio Sanchez said.
He said he and his wife are praying for a miracle, that their daughter will win the fight for her life.
"It's just a terrible thing to see. Anybody that's got children, you'd rather have it done to you than your own child," Sanchez said.
