Woman, Ex-Boyfriend Dead In Waxahachie Shootings

WAXAHACHIE (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - A woman and her ex-boyfriend have been found shot to death in a Waxahachie house in an apparent murder-suicide. Police safely removed a child from the residence.

Police Chief Charles Edge told KRLD NewsRadio 1080 that there was gunfire as police arrived at the scene. "We got a 911 call, "shots fired", in the 100 block of Lake Park. Officer responded [and] did hear gunshot still going on as the officers arrived," he said.

A SWAT team was called to the house and police learned more about the situation. "We were told that there was a young child in the house and that there was still a male subject in the house, that was thought to be the shooter, explained Chief Edge.

Police soon discovered the male and the female dead. According to Chief Edge, the woman's 2-year-old son is fine and the adults died from gunshot wounds.

Officials say the Arlington man who had dated the woman apparently killed her, then himself. Names of the pair were not immediately released.

Edge also says some gunshot rounds came out of the house in the direction of police as officers arrived. He says investigators don't know if officers were being targeted or if the rounds were meant for someone in the house.

Waxahachie is 30 miles south of Dallas.
