EULESS (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman was kidnapped and thrown into the back of her car at an Arlington bank early Wednesday morning. The incident started at around 3:40 a.m. at a Wells Fargo location near the intersection of Collins Street and Lamar Boulevard.
The victim was at the bank's ATM when she was approached by a man with a gun. That suspect robbed the woman and forced her into the trunk of her car.
"He seemed very calm. I thought he was just asking for money, like he was a beggar or something. But he was like, 'Give me the money,'" the victim, identified only as Christin, told CBS 11 News. "He pulled out his gun, so I just gave him the money and I just didn't think about it."
The woman told police that they drove to various other banks, where the suspect forced her to withdraw and hand over even more money. "And then he told me to get out of the car," the victim continued. "Once I slid out, he told me to pop the trunk."
"He came back around and, while I was heading toward the trunk, he told me to get into the trunk," the victim said.
The vehicle was then driven into Euless, where the woman was able to escape to a QuikTrip gas station located near the corner of Highway 10 and Industrial Boulevard. She went into the store and called 911 for help.
The suspect got away with the woman's car, her purse and her cell phone. However, the vehicle was later located again in Arlington. Police have described the man as a black male in his early 20s, around 5 feet 6 inches tall with a short afro haircut.
Meanwhile, police in Arlington are also investigating another earlier robbery at the same ATM in Arlington. The victim in the case, a man, went to a nearby convenience store and called police. Officials are still trying to determine if the two cases are related.
