Woman Dies After Being Struck By Car At Dallas Bus Stop

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman died after she was struck by a car while waiting at a bus stop in east Dallas Sunday afternoon.

Officials with Dallas Area Rapid Transit say the woman was waiting on the bus stop near Buckner and Peavy at around 2:30 p.m. when she was hit by a car.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released.

The driver of the car was transported to the hospital in unknown condition.

Friends of the victim tell CBS 11 she was a sweet, older woman who worked at a nearby Walmart. They called her "Ms. Vicky."

"She works at Walmart. She was taking a break to catch her break... two cars. They're saying one person had a heart attack and hit her, and the other car kept going," said Shaquetta Brown.

Lawanda Johnson comforted Brown after they saw the crash. They said the woman rode the bus daily.

"I'm devastated. I hate to see anybody lose their life. Especially in a tragic situation like this," said Johnson.

Po;ice have not confirmed what caused the car to smash into the bus stop. It was flattened on impact.

"I think they need to move them bus stops a little bit further away," said Johnson.

Dallas police are investigating the incident.
