HURST (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman is dead, a man was seriously injured and a second man is on the run after a shooting in Hurst on Tuesday night. The incident happened shortly before 10:00 p.m. at the Sawgrass Apartments, located in the 1800 block of Sotogrande Boulevard.

The crime scene actually spans two apartment complex properties on both sides of the street. Authorities arrived at the scene and found the woman shot dead inside of an apartment unit. The second victim was then located outside of the Crooked Stick Apartments on the other side of the street.

Detectives remained at the scene into Wednesday morning, but the investigation is far from over. According to authorities, the injured man is also a gunman. He has been taken into custody at Baylor Regional Medical Center in Grapevine, and is thought to be the person who shot and killed the woman.

People who live in the area told authorities that they heard a gunshot and then saw a man run across the street. Police are now searching for a third man involved in this incident, the person who shot the first gunman. However, authorities do not believe that this individual is a threat to others.

Investigators have spent hours tracking down witnesses and trying to piece together the relationship between the three people involved in this deadly double shooting, and what happened to spark such violence on Tuesday night. Authorities have not yet released any names in this case.
