OXNARD, CA (105.3 The Fan) – It's Wednesday, so it's a "Romo Wednesday." And tight end Jason Witten joined his QB with an afternoon off at Cowboys training camp, meaning it's a "Witten Wednesday," too.
"We're taking an 'Old Man Break,' Witten joked as the pair trotted around the sidelines.
Romo, 36, didn't practice once last week due to a sty in his left eye. There does not seem to be a serious medical concern here, but rather a rest-and-maintenance program similar to last year when, coming off consecutive all seasons with back surgeries, he rested on Wednesdays during the regular season.
As for Witten, 34, he is likely cooperating with the program begrudgingly.
The Cowboys have another off day scheduled on Friday before ramping up to San Diego for their first preseason game against the Chargers on Aug. 13 - a game in which Romo and Witten and other starters are unlikely to participate in.
