Witness Recounts West Fort Worth Manhunt

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Tom Macie had a front row seat Tuesday afternoon, as a swarm of police hunted down two fugitives in west Fort Worth.
"It was something I've never seen," he told CBS11.
Macie lives alongside the open field where Fort Worth police confronted Ed McIver and his son Ed McIver, Jr. after pursuing them from the parking lot of a World Market.
The commotion started off small, according to Macie.
"I saw an SUV come around that corner, slide around the corner, and there were a couple police vehicles in pursuit," he said.
Minutes later came the flood of dozens of flashing police lights.
Macie's cell phone video recorded police lining the road as far as he could see.
"I saw more police vehicles than I've ever seen in my life. They were all piled up here in front of my house. They got out, had their guns in their hands. I had no idea what was going on," he said.
At home babysitting his grandson EJ, Macie learned from a phone call an officer was shot and a suspect was on the loose.
"That's when I started to panic, because I have the little one with me. We were in the back and if that guy was running around out in the field…" he said. "It's all overgrown, somebody coulda' hid out there real quick."
Macie said he stuck to the safest spot he could think of while the 20-year-old suspect was on the run.
"I stayed close to the front, had the front door open, where I could see police," he said.
His 2-year-old grandson didn't seem to mind the view of lights and sirens, smiling as police officers passed by.
Macie, though, is sad to hear an officer's life is in danger.
"Anyone who goes after cops, I have no respect for," he said.
