Wilson Hates Pitching For Rangers In Oakland
ARLINGTON (AP) - Rangers left-hander C.J. Wilson apparently isn't too fond of Oakland, where he will make his next start.
"I hate pitching there," Wilson said Wednesday.
Wilson said he doesn't like the mound in Oakland and that there never seem to be very many fans attending the Athletics' home games.
His comments came in response to a question about making his next start, scheduled for Friday night when the AL West-leading Rangers open a three-game series in Oakland.
"There's no fans there," Wilson said. "It's too bad, because the fans that are there are adamant, they're really stoked on the team, they wave flags and play drums. And that's cool. But there are 6,000 people there and it's kinda sad because it's a major league team and there are guys who are pretty good players."
Wilson (10-5) is 0-2 in four starts since getting his 10th victory.
The weather is also much cooler in Oakland, especially since the temperature in North Texas has reached at least 100 degrees every day for nearly six weeks.
"I don't like to pitch in cold weather, it's always kinda cool there," Wilson said.
Wilson has started only once in Oakland, allowing three runs, two earned, in seven innings during a 3-1 loss April 29. The former reliever is 0-2 with two saves and a 4.00 ERA in 14 career appearances there.
