Why People Dislike Lebron James

Lebron James has always seemed like a nice enough guy to me.   Sure he's a bit on the arrogant side of things, but come on this is pro sports.   It's full of guys who are self centered and overpaid.  Why single out Lebron for such a common sin?

Piece on Fox Sports Florida's website about the Olympic team today.  Story goes, Olympic Program Director Jerry Colangelo feels like the 2012 team compares favorably with the original dream team, what do you think of that?

The question was separately presented to both Lebron and Dwayne Wade.  Their responses tell the story of how one man is revered and one is so reviled.

James: "I agree, they set the standard for USA Basketball in '92 with all the great players they had. But we have some great ones, as well. We have some Hall of Famers, some champions. So it's going to be a great (team)".

Wade: "The Dream Team is a team — you don't really want to touch that team, an amazing team. But (2012 is) going to be a pretty good team. But I don't want to touch the Dream Team. . . . It's always kind of the bar. From that standpoint, I kind of want them to stay the bar."

So many things to say about that, I don't know where to start.

-Does he really think his generation could compete with the spawn of the NBA's golden era?  Jordan, Johnson, Stockton, Malone, Barkley, Drexler, David Robinson. That's just half the team.  We are talking about the definitive collection of professional players from 1980-1992!

-Since when do players actually take the bait and say they are just as good as confirmed hall of fame inductees and legends?

-The difference in self confidence a championship can give a player.  Lebron comes off sounding insecure while Dwayne is self assured.

-The similarities between this media session, and the on court sparring session James forced Wade in to when he erroneously thought game 2 was wrapped up.   One player is self congratulating while the other is trying to calculate the best and smartest possible move to ensure success.

-My final thought is you can count me among the proud Lebron haters now.  I can't look the other way anymore.  It's not one act, it's his entire act.  .
