Whitehead Claimed Off Waivers By Jets

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Ousted Cowboys receiver Lucky Whitehead has been claimed off waivers by the New York Jets, his agent tells 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher.

The Dallas Cowboys cut Whitehead on Monday after learning that he had supposedly missed a court date, stemming from a petty theft charge attached to his name.

Prince William County Police in Virginia said Tuesday that Whitehead wasn't the person involved in the theft and dropped the charges.

Later that day, the Cowboys stood by their decision to cut Whitehead despite the charges being dropped.

When speaking at his daily press conference in Oxnard on Tuesday, Jason Garrett gave the same answer over and over again to questions related to Whitehead.

"Yesterday, we made a decision we deemed to be in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys. We're going to stand by that decision and move on."

After the tenth question or so, Garrett did add that the best thing for Lucky "is a clean slate."

We now know that Lucky will get a chance at that clean slate in New York with the Jets.
