Wet Weather Hits North Texas
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A thick blanket of clouds appeared suddenly over North Texas during the afternoon, unleashing pouring rain.
"It was insane, pretty intense," Ana Chan who was taking shelter at Fuel City in Dallas said.
"It was actually pretty hard to drive," Chan's husband Seng Ngo said.
On the road, drivers struggled to see through the downpour.
"Maybe 30 feet at most, and even then it was kind of hazy, foggy looking," Ngo said.
In southwest Fort Worth, cars waded through high water on flooded Rendon-Crowley road.
On Camp Wisdom in Dallas, firefighters helped pull out cars who couldn't make it through.
Throughout the Metroplex, CBS11 photographers captured video of drivers, who lost control and crashed in the wet conditions.
In Irving, water gushed from an overflowing creek onto neighborhood streets.
Debbye Humphries said she had at least three feet of water running through her back yard.
"It was going so fast through that it was shooting in the back doors, up under the back doors, and we couldn't get out because it was such a heavy flow," Humphries said.
With an 8 year old daughter nursing a broken leg, she was eager to evacuate her family, but said she found emergency crews already overwhelmed.
"When we called for 911 help, they were so busy helping people get out of the stranded cars, we couldn't get help," she said.
As quick as it came, though, the rain disappeared, leaving behind for most a foggy memory of this Easter Sunday.
