Wet Weather Ahead For Christmas
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The gift of much needed rain arrives late tonight and tomorrow. Its starts as light rain overnight but picks up in intensity as we get through the day tomorrow.
The heaviest rain should move in from our western counties into the Metroplex by late morning or mid-day. The forecast models continue to agree that 1"-2" of rain is possible with this event; the biggest rain in 51 days and first since we started December. It shall be a cold rain as well- temperatures might reach into the upper 40's mid-day but drop into the low 40's by afternoon.
CHRISTMAS DAY COATS
Winter gear a thoughtful gift this Christmas since they can come out of the box and right onto service. Highs on Christmas day only in the mid-40's with a brisk north wind 15-20mph. Morning clouds should give way to some afternoon sunshine but it won't help warm the situation much. In fact the high today in the low 50's in DFW won't be seen again probably until TUESDAY.
CHILLY FOR A SPELL
Dry weather returns to north Texas all the way until Wednesday. Until it stays rather cold, highs only in the upper 40's on Sunday and Monday and only in the low 50's by Tuesday. This by the way is the longest cold streak we've suffered this mild December: it'll be about 4 days in a row with highs only in the 40's starting tomorrow.
MORE RAIN RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER
As it trying to make up for the very dry December more rain in the forecast starting late Tuesday and Wednesday. This also appears to be a decent rain for the parched north Texas area. It should warm slightly by Wednesday (mid-50's) and be windy and warmer still by Thursday. Right now it is looking like a dry New Year's Eve.
