DALLAS (CBS 11 News) - Reunion Tower is one of Dallas' most iconic landmarks.

Almost 40 years old now, and it's just as popular as ever, especially with those looking to get engaged.

"I think she kind of new. So she was like let's do this. Are we doing it in the elevator?" said Gabe Herrera. Less than two weeks ago he proposed to Ashley Clark on the GeO Observation Deck.

"We stepped up to the railing and then I turned to my right and he took out a piece of paper and started talking and I was like oh my gosh is this it's happening right now. Is this happening?" Clark said.

It was happening. Herrera got down on one knee with an unknown boy looking on and popped the question.

"I just kept telling myself keep looking at him and try to focus on what he is saying because you are in a freak-out moment," Clark said.

And of course, she said, "yes."

The proposal was followed by a party in the restaurant upstairs and lots of pictures.

Reunion Tower loves that people come here to show their love for one another. Whether it's the amazing views from the GeO deck or the restaurant above, Reunion Tower is special.

"This is kind of our Super Bowl," said Reunion Tower General Manager Dusti Groskreutz

She says love is always in the air at the tower.

"Anything romantic we are here for you," Groskreutz said.

In fact, she says they average of about 1 engagement a day, but most tend to happen right around February 14.

"We actually created a "love is in the air" package because we had so many people calling and wanting assistance with doing a proposal or getting a photographer or sneaking flowers up here," Groskreutz said.

"Honestly, I don't remember. I blacked out. I don't remember what happened," Herrera said trying to recall how his proposal went.

Fortunately they had a photographer nearby who captured the moment.

"It was amazing. It was so great," Clark said.

And they say Reunion Tower will always have a special place in their hearts.
