NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Once is bad enough but one North Texas mother fought cancer three times.
She documented her experience in a moving, personal video to help others.
Candice Stinnett was just 21, and mother to a 3-year-old when she was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma in 2007.
"I was very, very sick. There were times when I didn't think I'd live to see my 30s," said Stinnett.
Her first fight saw 6 tough rounds of chemo, but there was always time for a good laugh.
Then two years removed from her initial diagnosis -- strike two.
"On my one year scan, they said the cancer was back. The transplant had failed," said Stinnett. "I was writing down all my online passwords, to pass on, and I picked the cemetery I wanted to be buried at. When I wasn't crying my self to sleep, I was planning my funeral."
Then October 7, 2010, Stinnet had her second stem cell transplant. Her family and friend rallied, none more than her son Jonathan, who stayed by her side, during her weeks in isolation.
"He really and truly made me feel that everything was going to be ok," she said.
On Stinnett's road to remission, Candice ran two marathons, eventually meeting her stem cell donor Jared.
