Lockdown Lifted At Weatherford High School

WEATHERFORD (CBSDFW.COM) - Weatherford High School was placed under "modified lockdown" on Tuesday morning as officials with the school and law enforcement looked into "some information" received by campus faculty.

Students and staff members were evacuated from the school as a precaution, while officers with the Weatherford Police Department walked through the building and performed a full search of the premises. Everyone was permitted back into their classrooms after the police search was completed.

The Weatherford Independent School District posted a lockdown notice their website, and on their Twitter and Facebook pages. That notice did not elaborate on the nature of the suspicious information, or why officials felt that the school needed to take such action. However, after the lockdown was lifted, the district said that the information came from a threatening note that was found at the campus.

District spokesman Derik Moore stated, "Weatherford Police and Fire Departments worked together with the WISD administrative team to make sure there was no true threat to the students and staff."

No other schools in the Weatherford ISD were affected by the lockdown.
