Weather Strands Travelers At DFW Airport
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Blizzard conditions to the north and gusty weather in the Metroplex contributed to travel problems at DFW International Airport on Monday night. More than 100 flights were canceled, stranding passengers in the terminals.
Most travelers were hoping to get on a flight leaving Tuesday morning, but that is still unknown. The biggest problem, some said, was not knowing exactly how long they could be delayed. "The airlines really need to consider finding some accomodation, because apparently this is something that happens frequently, because I asked a few questions," said passenger Kelvin Page. "What do you do with passengers, for no fault of their own, that are stranded?"
The weather in North Texas was still cold and windy on Tuesday morning. But that did not seem to be a problem.
Only 36 flights have been canceled for Tuesday -- 13 departing flights and 23 arrivals -- all related to weather issues in other parts of the nation, said airport spokesman David Magana. He cited dangerous weather in the Texas Panhandle, Kansas and Missouri as the worst areas, so anyone planning to travel to or from those areas on Tuesday is advised to check their flight's status before leaving the house.
Additional flights could be canceled throughout Tuesday.
