WAXAHACHIE (CBSDFW.COM) -- Move over Jason Garrett, there is another former Cowboys quarterback becoming a head football coach in DFW.

Thursday night, the Waxahachie ISD School Board named Jon Kitna the new head coach at Waxahachie High School. Kitna played 16 years in the NFL, including 3 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.

Kitna left the NFL in 2012 and began coaching and teaching at his Alma Mater in Tacoma, Washington. In his three years at Tacoma Lincoln High School, Kitna lead Lincoln High School to the playoffs every season.

"We are very excited that Jon has chosen to join Waxahachie ISD," said Waxahachie ISD superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn.
