Warning for Pregnant Women About Weight Gain
New research suggests women who gain too much weight during pregnancy are at risk of having a baby with a higher birth weight. This may, in turn, increase their child's risk for long-term weight problems, and the very serious health issues related to obesity.
Dr. Jane Nokleberg is an Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, and she talks to KRLD's Bonnie Petrie about the new findings. She starts by dispelling the myth that a pregnant woman can eat double what she normally would. After all, she's eating for two, and gaining lots of weight is part of the deal!
