Warm weekend ahead in North Texas, potential tropical system brewing in Gulf
NORTH TEXAS – The National Hurricane Center has increased the formation chances for a tropical disturbance just south of Texas to 70% over the next seven days. If there are any further adjustments in the 10 p.m. advisory, I will pass them along.
Thanks to a frontal boundary expected to pass through our region early Monday, this system has no chance of affecting the western Gulf Coast, but rather the eastern. Florida seems to be the consensus, with heavy rain likely at the very least. A tropical depression or named storm seems likely by early next week.
The latest European model guidance shows a developing cyclone forming south of the frontal boundary, which stalls in the Gulf of Mexico. If the boundary interacts more with the developing cyclone, it would mitigate formation. If the cyclone stays farther south from the front, it could intensify more steadily.
Here at home, another decent night. Morning lows should be fairly nice!

The upper air pattern hasn't changed much, and we'll be lacking rain chances through the extended period. At least a weak cold front will drop temperatures by 5-10 degrees and bring more dry air to the region early Monday.
7-day: FROPA (frontal passage) should take place on Monday. After that, the middle of next week looks alright, alright, alright. 🙂
