Walmart Heiress Selling Champion Horses From Texas Ranch

FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Walmart heiress Alice Walton is selling off all her horses, tack and equipment from the Rocking W Ranch located 45 minutes west of Fort Worth in the town of Millsap.
65-year old Alice Walton, worth an estimated $39 billion, is considered one of the top cutting horse breeders in the country.
The September 21st and 22nd sale will feature many of her champion horses; the 2009 NCHA Open Futurity champion 'Rockin W' and his dam, 2004 NCHA Horse of the Year 'Boon San Kitty' and will include 3-year-olds trained by Jesse Lennox; 2-year-olds; yearlings; and weanlings along with all ranch equipment.
"It's called realigning my priorities," Walton said in an interview to Western Bloodstock LTD about the sale. "I have loved this business and this way of life. And let me say, first and foremost, no matter who owns the horses, I will always be rooting for them, because I will always consider them 'my' horses.
According to the company that will handle the sale, Walton plans to stay in North Texas, but will devote her time to many of her philanthropic interests, including the Crystal Bridges museum of American Art in her hometown of Bentonville, Arkansas.
"This (move) has been some time in coming really," Walton added. "I've been stretched in too many directions and I want to get focused. I've got a house in Fort Worth, so I'm going to move to town.
"Tell everybody they're not rid of me. I'm keeping my box (in Will Rogers Coliseum) and I'll be there with bells on."
