Wally Lynn: Romo On Injured Reserve Is Right Choice

IRVING (105.3 The Fan) - As confirmed by Jerry Jones this morning on 105.3 FM, Tony Romo's season is done.  Jerry told Romo last night that he would be shelved for the season.

Romo broke his collarbone in the Giants game on October 25th and while the prognosis was a six-to-eight week recovery period, the Cowboys have decided it is best to just finish the season without him.

Wise choice.

Said Jones, "There were other players that other teams wanted to take off our practice squad and so we felt the time was right.  Romo was still having sensitivity there.  He wasn't ready to play.  Nothing indicated that any attempt to practice this week would have him ready to do that and of course he'd be real rusty if we didn't begin the process this week, and we needed the roster spot. We're bringing up Teddy Williams.  We've had him in the secondary but we recently moved him over to receiver."

I asked Jones if he wished he had made the move earlier, but he said he didn't.  "No, not at all," he said.  "We had no reason to.  We didn't need the spot these last several weeks.  We should and would give him (Romo) every opportunity to get back and play."

Williams is the speedster track star out of UTSA (as opposed to slow track stars)  who was converted to corner in training camp.  The Cowboys thought enough of him to protect him from going away after a season of learning the game from the other side of the football.
