Walkin' In New Orleans During the Gulf Crisis (Audio)

I walked around downtown New Orleans today to take in the sights and sounds of the city most directly impacted by BP's oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Walking down Bourbon Street, I saw people taking pictures of the t-shirt you see there on the left.  The manager at Big Easy Tee's told me that's by far their best selling shirt right now.  He estimates they've sold more than 2,000 of them since the crisis began with the blowout on the Deepwater Horizon.

The people of New Orleans are resilient, to be sure.  This club promoter was yelling for people to come in and have a cold beer, but then when I asked him about the situation, he referred to the power of prayer:

This stripper who worked at a gentlemen's club up the street told me the whole deal is a mixed bag:

At the Royal Sonesta Hotel, Wayne Jones is the Director of Restaurants.  He told me that they've had to roll with the punches, but for the most part the business climate is good:
