VIDEO: Seven Masked Suspects Rob Irving Jewelry Store

Jewelry store robbery by Irving Police Department on YouTube

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) -- Irving Police are investigating a takeover robbery at a high end jewelry store involving at least seven masked men.

The robbery occurred at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday at Tilak Jewelers in the 8300 block of N. MacArthur Boulevard.

Polices say the suspects, who were wearing gloves and multiple layers of clothing, forced their way into the store by smashing the front door. Some of the suspects were armed with handguns

The suspects ordered the clerks to the ground and to the back of the store before smashing multiple glass cases with hammers. An undetermined amount of jewelry was taken from the store.

After spending less than two minutes in the store, the suspects fled in a stolen vehicle.

"They were certainly prepared," said Irving Police Detective James McLellan. "They knew what they were after and they were organized."

McLellan says the robbery took place in the middle of the day, on a weekend, and in a busy shopping center -- which is rare.

While its difficult to identify the suspects in the video, McLellan is hoping the video will provide clues about the suspects' identities.

"We're hoping that somebody out there might recognize individuals that have recently come into possession of large amounts of expensive jewelry, or perhaps they overheard something," said McLellan.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Irving PD investigators at (972)721-2535 or forward your tips to IPDCrimeTips@cityofirving.org.
