ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -Arlington Police have released patrol car dash cam video of a cruiser being rammed early Sunday morning.
Arlington Police say the suspect intentionally rammed the officer's car to keep from being caught.
Police arrested Josue Pablo Mendez a few hours later on felony charges of aggravated assault on a public servant and evading arrest.
Here is the conversation between Officer Haley Thedford and dispatch as the situation unfolded.
Dispatch: "Copy. Vehicle has spun out."
(sound of crash)
Officer Thedford (off mic)…unintelligible.. "he just hit me."
Dispatch: Are you 10-1?
Officer Thedford: "I am pinned in my car. I don't know where he is."
Officer Thedford: "24- be advised. He struck..came at me."
Arlington Police Lt. Christopher Cook said Mendez confessed to intentionally ramming his truck into the patrol vehicle.
"He could have killed her," said Lt Cook. "He can say all day long that he was just trying to disable her car but with this kind of impact you've made a decision to use your vehicle as a deadly weapon."
Thedford shared her thoughts in the experience with CBS11 Monday afternoon.
