Video Fly-Over Provides Look Into Completed LBJ Express Project
Commuters dealing with increased traffic along I-635 in Dallas likely view the five-year, 17-mile LBJ Express Project as nothing more than an inconvenience. But a new video provides a glimpse into how the completed project might alleviate traffic for years to come.
The video rendering shows a fly-over of the entire completed project, from I-35 to I-635.
Shown in the video are the TEXpress lanes, which will run to the outside along I-35 and on the inside along I-635. These will be "priced-lanes". Many of these lanes along I-635 will be subterranean.
In all, there will be 2-3 frontage lanes in each direction, four non-tolled lanes in each direction, and three TEXpress lanes in each direction along I-635.
Engineers across the state are using the road-work project as a model.
Upon completion, the LBJ Express is expected to eliminate traffic congestion for the more than 250,000 drivers who cruise Dallas' busiest freeway. The reconstruction project comes at a cost of more than $2 billion.
