DALLAS (CBS11) - A Dallas man recovers in Parkland Hospital after being stabbed and run over in a carjacking last Wednesday.
"I don't know how I got through it," said Mark Tucker from his bed at Parkland Hospital. " I really don't."
Tucker, 60, has multiple skull fractures, stab wounds to his arms and chest, and needs skin grafts on his shoulder, arm and leg.
"No one should have to go through something like this," Tucker said.
According to police the assault occurred in the 500 block of North Hampton, between Jefferson and Davis, where Tucker was sitting in his truck with the engine running.
"He caught me off guard," Tucker said.
Police said the robber forced Tucker to drive to Pleasant Grove, where he demanded money from an ATM in the 2200 block of John West. The report continues, saying, when Tucker told the robber he had no ATM card, the robber began stabbing him in the head and face.
"The minute the knife came toward me I was able to ward it off," Tucker said. "And it went right through my hand."
Tucker said he rolled out of the car, and collapsed. That's' when his attacker ran him over, several times.
"I saw a shadow of the transmission – coming towards me… as I heard him gun the engine."
Police later found Tucker's truck at 4800 Olson.
"No one expects this," Tucker said. This type of brutality… over a material possession. No one."
The robber was described as a Latino male, 25-30 years old, with straight black hair, and his first name might be Richard.
